The crypto industry continues to penetrate mainstream events via professional sports leagues, athletes, and teams this year. On Wednesday, the Boston Celtics announced a partnership with blockchain provider Socios.com.
Socios.com becomes presenting partner of the NBA’s Boston Celtics
On July 7th, Socios.com, the blockchain company that gives fans the opportunity to be “superfans”, teamed up with the Boston Celtics to influence club-specific decisions, trade digital items and access “VIP experiences” to access.
The professional team is well known and has won the National Basketball Association (NBA) annual championship series 17 times. The announcement reveals that Socios.com will be featured on the celtics.com web portal, as announced by nba.com.
“[Socios.com will] serve as the presenting partner to the team’s website, placing them at the top of Celtics’ main point of contact for relevant news, updates, video highlights, and franchise information, ”said the Boston Celtics announcement. “You will also have the opportunity to use the Celtics trademarks and logos in connection with various international marketing activities of Socios.com.”
Ted Dalton, Boston Celtics’ senior vice president of corporate partnerships, said the deal is always about the fans. “A big part of the Celtics brand is made up of the great fans who support the organization locally, nationally and globally, and we are excited to find a partner who values fan engagement as much as we do,” noted Dalton in one Opinion.
Socios.com claims to have a list of over 40 major sports industries including cricket, MMA, esports, soccer, and F1. The blockchain company stated that the partnership with the Boston Celtics is part of the company’s expansion into US territory.
Socios.com’s deal with the Celtics follows the Portland Trail Blazers, who revealed that the professional basketball team partnered with cashback blockchain company Stormx on July 1. Last March, a number of NBA team owners formed an NBA blockchain advisory committee for the American professional basketball league.
