Jackson, the mayor of Tennessee, is a fan of Bitcoin, wondering why we accept inflation

Miami Mayor Francis Suarez isn’t the only bitcoiner trying to bring bitcoin companies and technological innovations to his city. Jackson, the Mayor of Tennessee, is also a Bitcoin fan, and Scott Conger is the third member of his family to be Jackson’s Mayor.

Conger noted that inflation rose after the federal government and central bank put massive stimulus in place over the past year and a half. In Conger’s opinion, Bitcoin is the only solution to this problem. Conger three days ago tweeted:

Why do we accept inflation? Why are we not demanding more from our federal government 6.3% in 2 years? 172.8% in my life. Every year our dollar is worth less. There is no recoil. There is only 1 solution for this … Bitcoin.

Scott Conger: “Let’s Not Accept Inflation”

In a recent interview, Conger said he was keeping an eye on Miami’s Mayor Suarez and believes Bitcoin can benefit Jackson. Bitcoin is ideal for teleworkers using the city of Jackson and could give the city of Tennessee an edge. In another interview, Conger mentioned inflation again and started looking at things valued in satoshis (the smallest denomination of Bitcoin).

“It was really true when the price of lumber in dollars became known … massive inflation vs. price in” [satoshis]”, Explained Conger. Conger is also known for saying:

Let’s not accept inflation or the increasing carbon footprint.

Conger has also launched a task force dedicated to studying the benefits of blockchains and how payments using Bitcoin can support Jackson. “Our blockchain task force is studying how the City of Jackson TN can accept property tax payments in bitcoin and enable DCA in bitcoin for our employees,” said Conger tweeted on Thursday.

Earlier this year, Eric Adams also joins Conger and Suarez as the New York City (NYC) candidate for mayoral wants New York to also become a bitcoin hub and “the center of all technology.” Prior to Eric Adams, another NYC mayoral candidate, Andrew Yang, also promoted Bitcoin during his campaign in February. He followed in Suarez’s footsteps until Jackson, Tennessee and Conger.

“I’m taking advice from Francis Suarez,” tweeted Conger. “In the coming weeks I will be forming a Blockchain Task Force to figure out how best to position the city of Jackson TN for the future,” added the Mayor of Jackson.
