Landon Cassill is paid in digital currencies, JD Motorsports’ No. 4 Chevrolet wants Sport Voyager branding brand
According to an announcement posted on nascar.com, Landon Cassill, the professional stock car racer who drives the JD Motorsports # 4 Chevrolet, will be paid in crypto for the remainder of the NASCAR season. Cassill is a huge supporter of the crypto ecosystem and a friend of Voyager CEO Steve Ehrlich. The partnership also provides for the No. 4 Chevy to have a “Voyager livery in the Tennessee Lottery 250 on Saturday at the Nashville Superspeedway.”
Cassill told nascar.com that he is “checking his Voyager account probably 100 times a day”. Although cryptocurrencies can be volatile, Cassill stressed that he is ready to take the risk. “Well, I mean, there is a risk in holding cryptocurrencies, as there is with any stock or investment,” Cassill continued. “But for me it is something that I am familiar with, that I feel comfortable with and that I feel that I have a good handle on what I want to risk and what I need to pay my bills.”
Education and promotion of crypto visibility
Landon Cassill follows the growing list of celebrities, athletes and luminaries jumping into digital currencies. Last year, NBA star Spencer Dinwiddie tokenized his contract and NFL offensive tackle Russell Okung is paid in Bitcoin (BTC). NASCAR driver Darrell “Bubba” Wallace announced last July that the Bitcoin logo would appear on his Cash App-sponsored Chevy No. 43 will be seen. Voyager’s CEO Ehrlich believes the partnership with Landon Cassill will further expose the crypto ecosystem.
“It’s all about education, and what we’re trying to do is educate the masses about why cryptocurrencies are important, why we rely on digital dollars,” Ehrlich explained. “I tend to always ask people as customers or people who want to learn more: When was the last time you used real greenback dollars? Most people don’t. They use debit cards and everything is electronic anyway. So this is the next phase of electronic currency. “
Cassill, a 31-year-old Iowan, has finished 12th twice, once at Darlington Raceway in May and the Daytona Road Course last February. Cassill has also been racing for a long time since he was a little boy. At the age of 16, Cassill already set the record for the youngest winner in ASALMS history in 2006. Ehrlich concluded by stating that the goal was to “go to the moon” for the “formation and growth of both brands”.
