Indian rapper Raftaar is reportedly accepting cryptocurrency for his upcoming performance in Canada. “Nevertheless, I have finally taken the small steps in this direction and all my credit goes to my manager Ankit Khanna for making this dream come true for me,” said Raftaar.

  • Raftaar, an Indian rapper, lyricist, dancer, television personality and music composer, made headlines this weekend for being the “first Indian artist to accept a performance fee in cryptocurrency.” Raftaar’s real name is Dilin Nair.
  • The performance, which Raftaar is paid for in cryptocurrency, is a one-hour virtual event in Ottawa, Canada for a private group of about 100 people. It is scheduled for the second week of July.
  • “I’ve always been an ardent admirer of blockchain technology. I’ve always asked myself why artists and managers haven’t explored the potential of this disruptive medium, ”says Raftaar. “Nevertheless, I have finally taken the small steps in this direction and all my credit goes to my manager Ankit Khanna, who made this dream come true for me.”
  • However, the rapper did not mention which cryptocurrency he is being paid in.

  • In the meantime, the Indian government has not yet announced its cryptocurrency policy.
