Steve Cohen Get Into Crypto Says He Has “Fully Converted”

Steve Cohen is Chairman, CEO and President of Point72, an asset management company with approximately $ 22.1 billion in assets under management as of April 1. The company has 12 offices around the world and more than 1,650 employees.

He shared his opinion on the cryptocurrency in an interview last week, emphasizing that he has finally decided that he needs to get into the game. The billionaire CEO said:

I dive deep into crypto. I am completely converted.

Cohen added, “I have an old saying at the poker table that you have to pay to learn it. There is no way around. You can talk as much as you want, but you have to get into the game. “

He continued, “I am confident that we will be able to build something within Point72,” adding that “we are in the process of thinking about it”. Regarding the entry into the crypto market, Cohen said:

The timing is never good. Who knows. I don’t know if these things will go up.

However, Point72’s CEO isn’t interested in Bitcoin. “Forget Bitcoin,” he exclaimed. “I’m not interested in Bitcoin. I’m more interested in the technology behind the blockchain and how transformative it is and how disruptive it could be. “

Cohen said, “I think the way these markets are doing could be a really interesting addition to what we do at Point72,” said:

So I don’t miss that. I will not miss this. I already feel like I missed the first part, but I still feel like it’s still early days.

The billionaire noted that cryptocurrency is an example of something he wants to “look ahead and take some risk”. He concluded, “I may look silly at first, but you scale it up accordingly, learn the game and when you are confident you take it to the next level.”
