DOJ seeks litigation attorney with extensive blockchain and crypto knowledge – Bitcoin News

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is seeking a trial attorney to help with the federal agency’s Digital Currency Initiative. The DOJ has posted a job advertisement on the web portal “justiz.gov” and the hired person is expected to act as “an expert in digital currencies and blockchain technologies for the criminal justice department”.

The DOJ’s Money Laundering and Asset Recovery Department needs an attorney for a digital currency check

The DOJ’s Criminal Justice Department is committed to recruiting an experienced and permanent attorney for the Money Laundering and Asset Recovery (MLARS) Department in Washington, DC. Remote attorneys are considered if they qualify for the Digital Currency Initiative (DCI) job listing. The main goal of MLARS is to “get the profit from crime” and accomplishes this mission in a number of ways.

The new employee will help support the MLARS mission with law enforcement, recovery procedures, investigations into financial institutions that commit money laundering, violations of the Bank Secrecy Act, US sanctions, and cyber criminals and drug cartels.

The applicant is not only expected to “act as a specialist in digital currencies and blockchain technologies for the criminal chamber”, but must also develop and implement “training materials relating to digital currencies”.

In addition, the applicant is required to have “extensive knowledge” of crypto assets and blockchain technology, as well as knowledge of money laundering and asset forfeiture law. The starting year salary for the DOJ’s new crypto position is $ 144,128 with a cap of $ 172,500 per year.

The person should have a background in “criminal investigation” and “sensitive law enforcement techniques”. In addition, a minimum of five years experience as a law enforcement or litigation attorney is required.

“Regular domestic and international travel may be required,” the DOJ’s announcement concludes.
